Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has Monday conducted an operation targeting mostly hardware dealers selling substandard construction materials in the areas of Kitintale, Nakawa and Kawempe.

The standards body is focused on products such as cement, iron bars, nails among, other construction materials.

According to Sylvia Kirabo, the head of public relations and marketing at UNBS, the operation follows recent complaints from the public about the high rate of substandard construction materials on the market.

The enforcement exercise will be conducted countrywide.
