Police is hunting for five Chinese nationals who are accused of allegedly engaging in aggravated robbery and kidnap with intent to procure a ransom against fellow Chinese.

The five suspects who include; Jiang Ruo Hao, Wen Sung Wei, Chin Kei Khan, Wang Qian, and Huang Wei-Che, are accused of kidnapping and robbing fellow Chinese who they target upon landing in the country.

Police published photographs of the suspects, who are currently on the run, in the media and asked whoever has information on their whereabouts to pass it over to Police.

The case was reported at Jinja Road Police station under reference number CRB 119/2022.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, who signed the appeal notice on behalf of the Police chief (Okoth Ochola), asked the public to report to the nearest police station upon sighting the suspects.

New Vision earlier published a story in which we unearthed a racket of Chinese who work with Ugandans to rob fellow Chinese, especially those who have just come into the country.

In March this year, Police spokesperson (Enanga) told the press that a Chinese national was among the suspects cited in an attack on fellow Chinese in Kampala.

This was after the Chinese was captured on a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera while in a nearby vehicle at the crime scene, and police said his conduct was suspicious.

In July last year, thugs attacked Chinese nationals at their residence in Bunamwaya, a Kampala suburb, and robbed them of sh200m and $5,000.

About two months earlier, six people posing as National Water and Sewerage Corporation staff entered a Chinese residence in Kyambogo and robbed them of sh100m. In both incidents, the victims were left tied with ropes.
