Boda boda rider crushed to death as he tried to overtake moving lorry

The incident occurred at about 2pm near Kindly Fuel Station along Mutolere Road in Kisoro Municipality. 

The police identified the deceased as Bosco Mihanda, 52, a resident of Rwebikongo Cell, Nyundo Sub County in Kisoro district.

POLICE | ACCIDENT | MAATE 

KISORO - A boda boda rider was Thursday afternoon crashed to death as he tried to overtake a moving lorry truck. 

He is said to have instead confronted another oncoming truck, which hit him and left him unconscious. 

He was rushed to Kisoro hospital where he passed on the following day, June 3, 2022. 

The incident occurred at about 2pm near Kindly Fuel Station along Mutolere Road in Kisoro Municipality. 

The police identified the deceased as Bosco Mihanda, 52, a resident of Rwebikongo Cell, Nyundo Sub County in Kisoro district. 

The Kigezi region police spokesperson, Elly Maate confirmed the death, saying the rider of the unidentified motorcycle (deceased) allegedly rode recklessly and in the process of overtaking another moving motor vehicle rammed into an oncoming vehicle, registration number UBE 015L Isuzu Elf, white in colour, which hit him but did not stop after the accident. 

The police were however still investigating circumstances under which the yet unidentified motorcycle was taken away from the scene by an unknown person. 

Maate said by the time the police arrived at the scene, the deceased had been rushed to hospital by unknown people, who were suspected to have also taken his motorcycle. 

Inquiries are still ongoing.
