ENTEBBE - Aviation Police and sister security agencies have intercepted a suspected drug (methamphetamine) disguised as coffee samples for export on June 13, 2022 at 2210 hrs.

According to a statement from Civil Aviation, the narcotic substance was detected during the screening of the cargo.

“The shipper’s details bore a Ugandan name and the consignment was destined for Auckland, New Zealand,” reads the statement.

The matter was handed over to Police for further investigations. Drug trafficking through Entebbe International Airport is prohibited.

The interception comes at a time when Aviation is in plans of using Sniffer dogs to be used at Entebbe International Airport, border points and various container terminals against drug dealers.

More international arrests of people from Entebbe International Airport with narcotic drugs have put Uganda under pressure to control the drug trade in the country.
