Joint Medical Store (JMS) has donated sh25m towards the ‘Love Gift’ campaign, a fundraising initiative spearheaded by the Anglican Archbishop, Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, to raise money for the servicing of the Church House loan.

JMS is a faith-based private, not-for-profit non-governmental organization, which engages in the import, export and wholesale of medicines and related health supplies.

The donation was announced by the Executive Director of JMS, Dr. Bildard Baguma, during the visit of the Bishops of the Church of Uganda to the organization’s head office at Nsambya, Makindye Division.

Handing over the dummy cheque to Archbishop Kaziimba, during the function, Baguma said all the money was contributed by the staff of the organisation, in response to the Prelate’s noble appeal.

Archbishop Kaziimba paid tribute to JMS for its donation, which he said, had reduced the Church House debt even further.

He urged all Ugandans of goodwill to continue donating money towards the cause, so that Church House (located on Kampala Road, in Kampala City), finally becomes fully owned by the Church.

Further to the Church House donation, JMS also contributed Ug sh10m towards the just concluded Anglican Martyrs Day function (at Namugongo).

The dummy cheque was received by Bishop Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa.

Dr Baguma explained that the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church founded JMS, in 1979.

It is thus co-owned by the two Churches, which is why the organisation considered it right and just to participate in the Church’s noble activities.
