The Liberian vice president Jewel Howard Taylor has arrived in Uganda to explore investment opportunities in the country’s industrial sector.

According to industry state minister designate David Bahati, Taylor arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Monday morning.

“She is here to explore possibilities of cooperation in areas of trade, industrialization and infrastructure development,” Bahati said.

Taylor is expected to meet President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday and tour Namanve Industrial Park.

“She will also meet some business personnel while in the country,” Bahati said.

While addressing newly-elected National Resistance Movement legislators in April, Museveni asked them to support his industrialization plan.

He said industrialisation was a very fundamental sector in fostering socio-economic transformation.

"I, therefore, request you while in Parliament to support me in attracting investment for industries especially for those dealing in final products that can be consumed locally or be exported to other countries," Museveni said.

This, according to Museveni, would help to improve balance of trade with other countries as well as create more employment opportunities for the youths.
